In accordance with Article III, Section C of the NASSCED Articles of Organization, individuals may become lifetime members of the Association:  “Upon recommendation by the Association’s Board of Directors, individuals may be granted non-voting membership in the Association by a two-thirds vote of those present and voting at a regular meeting of the State Executive Directors.  Lifetime members are not eligible to hold office and are not required to pay dues.”

The following guidelines are offered to assist State Executive Directors in the approval of Lifetime Members in the National Association of State Student Council Executive Directors.

  1. Individuals may be recommended for membership by a State Executive Director or by themselves.  Letters of interest should be drafted to the President of NASSCED.

  3. The Board of Directors will make a determination whether to recommend this individual for Lifetime Membership to those present at the regular meeting of the State Executive Directors. The Board of Directors will use the following criteria for their recommendation:
    • The person will have formerly served as a State Executive Director.
    • The person is still active in planning, conducting, assisting and/or attending leadership activities for students at local, state and national levels; and
    • The person will have provided outstanding leadership and service to his/her state student organizations, state advisors association or NASSCED
  4. If the Board of Directors makes a positive determination, the nominee will be recommended for a vote by those State Executive Directors present at the regular meeting.  A two-thirds vote is necessary for Lifetime Membership.
